DM inbox relays
Where you receive private messages. Separate from the feed relays above.
Saving publishes this list (kind 10050) so other apps know where to
reach you — without it, senders guess.
Call relays
Call signalling is ephemeral — relays never store it. A call only
connects if you and the other person are on a relay at the same
moment. Adding relays is safe; the shared defaults are always kept
so you stay reachable. Removing them all would make calls fail silently.
DM relay speed test
Measures connection + round-trip time for each relay. Use the fastest ones for best DM delivery.
Calls
Calls connect directly between devices whenever the network allows
it. When it doesn't — mobile data, restrictive firewalls — the
encrypted media is carried by a relay. Favilla runs one, used by
default, so calls just work. It cannot decrypt a call, but it does
see the addresses of both parties. Run your own to remove Favilla
from that position entirely.
Background alerts
Keeps this page awake when it isn't the tab you're looking at, so
incoming calls ring and new messages chime even while you're
elsewhere. It works by playing a silent tone — that's the only way a
browser will let a background page keep running. Costs some battery,
and only works while the page is open somewhere: close the browser
and nothing arrives.
Muted accounts
Hidden from your feed, notifications and messages; their calls are rejected. Synced to your other Nostr clients (NIP-51).
Data usage
Routes images through a proxy that resizes & compresses them.
Reduces data usage by 70-90%. Original images load on tap.
QR error correction
Lower = less dense = easier for device camera to scan

Build —
If the interface stays frozen for several seconds, reload it. Warns first,
and never more than once every five minutes. Calls are always exempt
— a reload during a call would end it. On by default.
